Trail Blazers’ Ja Morant leaves first game against Grizzlies with hamstring injury

Portland Trail Blazers guard Ja Morant left his first game against his former team early in the fourth quarter on Thursday night with a left hamstring injury.

Morant scored 14 points and handed out three assists in 23 minutes before exiting. He was ruled out of the Trail Blazers’ 124-103 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Coach Micah Nori said after the game that Morant felt a twinge in his hamstring. Nori hoped to have more answers on Friday.

“I’m hoping that it’s nothing major, obviously,” Nori said.

Morant is in his first season with Portland after spending the first seven years of his career with Memphis. He has averaged 16.3 points and 6.3 assists in 26.7 minutes per game. The Trail Blazers began the season 3-0 before suffering their first loss on Thursday.
