Does anybody have any pictures of sump guards on mirages? Not the factory plastic cosmetic cover, but a decent heavy duty 4mm or 6mm plate alloy style thing.

How did you make yours Sean?

Mines got two brackets welded to the lower rad support bar thingy and then two holes drilled into the front subframe.

4 bolts at the front and 2 at the rear. 5mm alloy plate the whole way...

Front edge mounting is fine, some handy M8 threaded holes ready to use, its where to stick the back that I'm not sure of. Guess I can drill a couple of holes, but would be nice to see where others have them.

Any idea what your 5mm plate weighs? I'm thinking of going with kevlar, or drilling a lot of holes in the plate, which kinda defeats the purpose.

it would be a good couple kg... but because it's so low it helps lower the center of graveity???? well thats an excuse...

it's not really that much...

It would be more of the design you want to use that would be the question. I've got the downplate with no holes, the under sump area with no holes, but then a nice largish hole after that before the end of the plate to help with air flow... (came that way)

i'll try and find a pic...

But ya you are going to have to drill some holes (i'd recommend using a bolt and nut and not thread the subframe like some people i've seen)

This is hardly the best picture but shows you other possibilities for mounting.

Image

Picture is of a 4.5mm sump guard/undertray fitted to a Libero GT. The owner of the car said it was made by Safety21.

Here's the forum link the picture was sourced from; http://www.evocoupe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4943
