Hey I'm currently swapping my mivec blacktop 1.6l motor into a glxi shell. I've just noticed yesterday my chassis code was different to what I thought on original shell. Which is dreg. Its a e-cb4a, I just looked up some other forums and found alot of talk that the e-cb4a is the MR mivec shell. Would this mean my motor is the MR blacktop? Also does Mr stand for Mitsubishi racing? And I also seen what may have been a suggestion that the roof or something is a lightweight metal as opposed to other lancers. Can anyone help with this? Another question I have is what parts will I need from my mivec, I've got the motor and box, I've got the dash cluster, I've got the disc setups, the looms and computer
any answers would be awesome cheers.

What you would have heard is the evo 8 and 9 MR's have an aluminium roof but won't be the same for the MR MIVEC lancer unfortunately

Actually, NZ new shells use the cb4a and cb4a chassis codes as well.

MR does stand for "Mitsubishi Racing", but in the overall context, Mitsubishi tends to splash the 'MR' moniker around a bit recklessly. Take this beast for example:

Yeah, nah.

The Evo 8 MR and Evo 9's came with an Aluminium roof. Mivec MR's are the same crappy chassis as everything else. Sadly.

CB4A is the model code and can be deciphered as

C = LANCER/MIRAGE PLATFORM
B = 4 DOOR 2WD
4 = 4G92
A =SEDAN

The bit after that will be 4 letters, these are the codes that decipher the sub model options such as Mivec etc

This information can be found in ASA which I don't have on this laptop but if you let me know the code I will decipher it for you.

Which would explain why the NZ New cars used those codes too, because some had the non-mivec 4G92 engines as standard.

NZ and Aus used this numbering system, albeit using totally different codes

That would translate to
M = Mirage (L = Lancer)
H = Series Model. Loosely works out to year. Makes this a 1992. uses sequential letters for next model
7 = 4G92 SOHC with Manual Trans (8 = 4G92 with Auto Trans)
H = High spec interior (L = Low spec interior)
2 = 2 Door (4 = 4 Door)
4 = Hatch Back (1 = Sedan / Coupe, 5 = Wagon)
