Hello ,

I have a 4g92 2nd Gen Mivec-Md...I was checking the mivec solenoid because i am not getting it kicking in..However when i put the test light on the positive wire , i found it has a constant current flow with the switch key on (not idling)..Is this normal? Is it suppose to have current all the time or only when the mivec kicks in? When i apply the direct 12v to the solenoid it is NOT clicking though...Can the ECU caps cause this? I never changed the caps and the car is about 13 yrs..

Can anyone assist me?

Yes its normal, its ground that controll the solenoid.

Remove both solenoids (md has two solenoids) and bench test it:

Report back.

Hi ,

Actually i removed the solenoids and put a direct positive and negative to the wires but there was no clicking ...How do i check if the Ecu is sending the signal? Do i just connect a light to the pos/neg pins on the plug that connects the solenoid and rev to see if the light comes on?

Soak them in diesel/petrol and clean it well. Try to press the plunger (i think thats what its called?) down and release it to see does it goes up and down freely?

Leave the ecu alone for now, seems that the solenoids have the problem.

Did you try to test both solenoids, none works?!
