I'm in the process of fitting Mivec heads to my GTO, luckily I've had the pleasure of buying a pair of heads with 24 broken tappet adjustment screws. And since I only got the heads, I'm only left with 4 shims.

So the factory replacement part is MD212099, which now retails at $43 a piece and there are only 9 available so they have to be manufactured - ETA 2-3 months.

I sent the remains of a bolt off to a local plastic crowd to have some re-made out of nylon, the best price they could machine them up for was $22 each, much better but I still don't have any shims.

Now here's the good bit. Mitsi 4D56 engines have a very similar part, it screws straight into the rocker arm. The only difference is the bolt is m8x1.0 instead of M7 fine like the mivec ones. No biggie since the front plastic retainer and shim are *exactly* the same between the two. The best bit is they're readily available in the country, $15 each retail. Part number JCMD180514

Here's a comparison between the two parts, 4D56 on the left, V6 Mivec on the right

Simply pull the front off, using a small flat blade screwdriver or an o-ring pick

And pop it straight onto the original screw

Anyway hope this helps someone in the future. I had an absolute prick of a time trying to get something sorted out, and now happily have managed to replace the lot for 300 bucks.

Good work there "Box".

Still a bit pricey but probably better than my "heatshrink " method.
