Hmm handy to know, cheers

Will the internals/etc handle the boost or should I look at a bit of a rebuild when I have the engine out for the swap?

Yea I got under the car and checked the gearbox/code last night and figured it wasn't a GSR box like what it said in the trademe add haha

Ah well can't complain for the price

I was wondering if I would be better off using the mivec gearbox on it and the proton 4g93 gearbox on my mivec engine

I'll do some research and see what I come up with :)

Cheers for your input

Leave the 93 gearbox on the asti, the ratios no matter what gearbox you use arnt going to be suited to the 1.8 turbo as mitsi only made the 1.8 Turbo with a 4wd gearbox, the ratios in the mivec box will be shorter than the proton one so leave your mivec box on the mivec motor, the only way you could make the 1.8t have correct ratios is to swap gearsets out of a GSR 4wd box (they are very different ratios) I wouldnt be modifying the turbo motor much if it has NA internals as the motor wont last long especially under more boost :D

all good just dont want to see you to have problems because of not knowing what you have.

i think the proton box had a really short gears so ratios are a bit strange id keep the mivec box for yourself(run the mivec box on the 93+t)

Guess this needs to be moved into off topic now...

Now running a 4g93t, just had the engine rebuilt, turbo is a TD05/6 25g steve murch, Tial 38mm wastegate, custom exhaust manifold/downpipe, new intercooler piping being made, etc, should hopefully be back on the road in a week or so

Also, hahaha just noticed this, posted back from page 1 was my dyno sheet on the old mivec engine, showing it was down on power

Note that the power curve peaks at 180km/hr? Yea that would have been it hitting speed cut before it hit revv limit I bet, explaining the low power as it didn't revv all the way up

Got the car back, engine freshly rebuilt/etc/etc/etc

Just started swapping the front end's over yesterday, so the gold turbo one is now running genuine evo guards, libero bonnet/lights, genuine evo 2 bumper (plastic)

Got a new bumper being made at the moment, evo 3 replica, will see if it looks better than the genuine evo 2 one on the car at the moment

Mivec is at 5200rpm. That air intake had a pod filter on the end and went down into the bumper so it had a fresh air supply through the right hand vent on the front of the bumper. That bathroom ducting was later replaced with proper metal piping

This is the intake once I replaced it with a proper metal intake pipe (just custom made it with some silicon joiners and metal straight pipe)

Theoretically it would make a difference being that its getting fresh cold air. The intake was quite long though so there is a chance for some lag in throttle response but I can't say I noticed. The main thing to watch out for is that the pod filter has no risk of getting wet if driving in the rain. Water through the intake system is NOT a good thing
