First.. I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself, my name is Patrick, I live in the States and I've been Circle Track racing for about 5 years.

I know that roundy-rounds aren't real popular across the pond, but I also know that road course and rally racing is, and most of the knowledge is transferable.

Our local track changed the rules this year, allowing DOHC cars for the first time. But at the same time, they put a fairly restrictive set of rules on us.. limiting the brands to American Mfg (before we could run anything) and prohibiting a couple of high output US mfg cars.. like the EvoTec GM or the SVT Ford

Well.. since Circle Track racing is looking for the grey areas, I think I've found one..

The Dodge Colt.

The Colt is a rebranded Mirage, which I'm sure you all know.. but this isn't an outlawed vehicle, which makes it perfect for me.

I have a couple of simple questions to start with..

1.) Do you know anyone currently circle track racing a 90's Mitsu
2.) What is the difference between the 4G92 dohc & 4G92 mivec
3.) If you have a 4G92 dohc, what needs to be done to make it a mivec ?
4.) What are the gear ratios and final drive ring and pinion ratio ?

I searched for this and have some leads, but I was hoping for some interaction with members..

Thanks.

Spektor, that is exactly the make and model I'm talking about.

However.. I think they make a hatchback of this car also.

Ok so that looks the same as the CA4A Mirage, CC Lancer Coupe or M21 Proton Coupe

They only came with 4G15 (Carby) and 4G93 SOHC so I have no idea about a stock 4G92 the colt. But I guess you can fit a 4G92 Mivec in it

The engine reference guide I had said that the 4G92 came in the Mirage.. so I assumed that a swap was possible ?

Looking at photos of engine bays of a 1.5 DOHC and a 1.5 MiVEC, they look the same.. valve cover is different.. obviously the head and loom are probably different..

But the block doesn't seem different.. i'm guessing the lower end and intake are the same.

Is the only difference the ecu, loom and head ?

As far as i was aware there is a JDM non mivec 4G92 DOHC which produces 107kw has a different head (obviously) different intake mani and exht mani, but if you have a non mivec DOHC 4G92 and put the mivec head loom and ECU in it you will basically have what mitsi produced as the 92 MIVEC, if your doing track you could just run a massive custom cam which will give you a similar gain if mivec heads are hard to find in your country :D

This Colt is a rebranded Mirage..

Thinking about Circle Track Racing it.. which I know is probably not in the core interest of the Street/Strip/Drag enthusiast.. but I'd like to learn more about this car in regards to race trim, and I figured you folks would have the most knowledge.
