Hi, I am new here, recently got a 95 30m diamante and have replaced the engine in this as the previous owner neglected it for a few years. So much info on here - it was very helpful to read through about various things. Great car - but I am having a few issues wiht the abs/traction control now.

From evoscan i get the following when i look for error codes:
MUTII ABS:
Updated: 15:40:00
Diagnostic Codes:0x13 And 0x10 Unknown DTC
0x16 And 0x40 Unknown DTC

I suspect this is an issue with the traction control, not actually the abs.

The lights would come on after driving for a few mins previously, and the system would work until then. Now they are on all the time. When I clear the codes, and scan again, i get the same.

Any clues here as to what this means:
Diagnostic Codes:0x13 And 0x10 Unknown DTC
0x16 And 0x40 Unknown DTC

Cheers,

Problems are usually caused by the last job done on the car
Swapping the engine?

I'd look for obvious things first, like the way it's hooked up.
The traction control works via a vacuum diaphragm on the throttle body. There's a vacuum canister mounted above the belhousing on a clip (near the thermostsat), that goes to the intake manifold for vac and to a solenoid, that's controlled by the computer. The other port on the solenoid goes to the throttle body. So, when the front wheels start spinning, the throttle closes via solenoid and vac diaphragm.
The throttle body also has cruise control, that's another diaphragm and solenoid valve. When vac is applied to the cruise control diaphragm, the throttle opens.
It's quite easy even for a proper workshop to screw it up (neither CC or TC working) as they did for my mate's 3.5 work wagon.
The 30M and 3.5 throttles are very similar depending on the year.

As far as codes go......pass.
I'd make sure it's connected right.

edit.....what did you do with the old engine?

Steve

Cheers for the tips. Checked all that and looks ok, traction has worked great since replacing the engine, lights are a new issue that has come back.

Thats kinda what I thought about those codes- so will just work my way through it.

Still got the old engine and trans... its only been out for 3 weeks. Thinking about keeping the trans, and maybe engine just in case for the future but not sure yet. It was knocking. hence I changed it out. you interested?
