Ok hopefully this makes sense
I have built a 1.8 hybrid but only by using the mitsubishi/proton block and bottom end. I have put the 1600 mivec head on it.
It runs fine but the oil pressure at idle is 90psi
This I think is way to much. I have just taken the oil pressure relief valve out and checked that to make sure it's bit gunged up. I will put some oil in it later today and check it again. If that didn't cure it is there anything else I should be looking for.
The solenoid at the back of the exhaust cam squirts oil on crank over but how much oil should be reaching the rest of the cams.
Sorry if these are Newby daft questions. I'm an ex rotary engine person and this is all gobbledygook to me
Thanks for your help in advance
Car is CA colt cyborg
Cheers
Brian

Oil pressure is always highest when cold.
So you'd really want to get a reading when it's fully warmed up.
New oil filter?
The pressure relief valve often opens at 80 or so PSI. The correct value will be in the manual.

We got there in the end and the ales you say are right. I was just worried as I had never seen a fresh build do that.
All seems to be going ok now and the car is ready for its rally at Goodwood motor racing circuit in the UK in a few weeks
