It won't be going for some time but I thought I'd show you some pics.

All I've done is put the heads and other bits onto a junk shortblock for trial fitting. Everything bolts up fine except I need a longer cambelt. I don't had the mivec coils either so if anyone has some lying around let me know.

I'll add to the writeup as I progress.

The car it's self hasn't been driven for 2 years. In fact today I finally cleared all the parts out of the boot to reveal newspaper dated 28 feb 2004. This of course means that the parts are now in their correct place and I just need a good battery to fire it up (with a non mivec unfortunately)

Here's the link. You can step through but they're not all mivec pics

I've got to get the car going first to do some other upgrades.

I've got a megasquirt ready to go in and also a wideband oxy sensor. I've also picked up an ECU from a 6A12TT that I'm giong to experiment with before the Megasquirt.
Then I'm planning an unconventional intercooler upgrade combined with an unconventional WI setup.
In the meantime I've got a spot booked for "trackday" so that the whale can scare some fish. That is of course if I don't blow it up again first. Hopefully I'll get some dyno time before that.

It's just too boring doing what everybody else does.

Steve

looks like a winning idea to me.

checkout yella terra for a cheap water injection kit, if you want one let me know. Ohterwise just use the idea as its so cheap and simple.

I've got no idea why the motor spun a big end.

I've already built my own, well a modified Spearco one. The only thing left is the tank but it's too small and I've got better ideas.
I'm upgrading the intercoolers too at the same time. I'm sure you'll be able to work that one out if you put some thought into it.

Update, well the only progress is that I've picked up a dead 6G74 sitting in the engine bay of a 93 Pajero.
looks like it could now be a 3 way hybrid, Mivec heads from a 30M, block from a Pajero and the rest from a GTO 6G72TT. Time will tell. There's no substitute for cubes.

So a 3.5L twin turbo MIVEC engine then? Nice...

I guess the question is what car will the engine be going into? GTO?

It would kinda be a shame to go in a GTO due to its very very heavy weight...power to weight ratio won't be as good...

Even so, factory 1800kg GTOs run high 13 second 1/4 miles.

Well Steve has had 2 x GTO's doing 12s so far, so he seems to know how to make them go pretty rapidly...

Would you prefer a Pajero? :P

I love this project. The only thing that would make it beter would be to put the engine in the back  Everybody knows a supercar has the engine in the back.

MMmmm that makes me think...fit a 30M to the rear of a mirage
