One or 2 people pop in now and again, it's a bit like all the car forums these days, it all seems to go to fakebook where kids ask questions, they get answered wrong by other kids.

The site is only as active as people make it. Realistically, most of the original core audience have families and mortgages now and, like myself, simply don't have a lot of time to play with cars. Another 16 or 17 years and I might get a bit of free time

I still pop in - mainly because of the wealth of reference info that's here.

I hold the record for being banned from the most number of car forums and FB groups.........I've only been modding cars for 42 years and only been playing with turbos for 37 years and kiddies like to tell me I'm wrong when I try to help someone. I'm a qualified telecomms and electronics engineer and done a few years of automotive machining and engine building after I got out of the comms game.....so WTF would I know about anything?

But everyone is entitled to have an opinion even when they've got no fecking idea what they're on about.
Kids don't like being told that they've done it all wrong........that's because they tend to ask afterwards, not before.

The pretty much universal answer to any changes you make or problems you have is to measure before and then measure again afterwards. Random replacing of parts is never a good idea.

Additionally most of these cars are off the road... they never had the following for people to want to restore them etc, nor the aftermarket support for builds.
I would assume forums for 86s, MX5s, Golf GTis etc should still be reasonably active though I've not frequented them.

That's what I always liked about them though - that they weren't quite so ubiquitous. Though the engine made it into some very pedestrian looking Lancers, so I guess was kind of written off by a lot of people as nothing compared to a B series engine...

I'm glad I managed to pick up a low-ish KM '99 Cyborg ZR a few years ago. So I've been slowly trying to get it back to fairly original condition (there's still quite a bit to do), and will definitely hold onto it as the weekend car... definitely one of the last of the breed before the electronics started taking over everything...
